The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IH.SM), of the University of Toliara, was created in 1992 following the merger of 3 entities: the Marine Station (since 1961), the Applied Oceanology sector (since 1980) and the Higher Fisheries Training Unit (since 1986). Its mission is Training and Research in the field of Marine Sciences, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Marine and coastal environment.
