The University of Nouakchott Al Aasriya is the primary public higher education institution in Mauritania, located in the capital city of Nouakchott. Established in July 2016 through the merger of the University of Nouakchott (founded in 1981) and the University of Science, Technology, and Medicine, it serves as the nation's central hub for academic advancement and research. The university operates five campuses and enrolls approximately 29,000 students. It offers a bilingual curriculum (Arabic and French) across diverse faculties, including Law and Economics, Letters and Human Sciences, Science and Technology, Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies and Research.
