The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is the unified military of South Africa, established in 1994 following the end of apartheid. It integrated the former South African Defence Force (SADF), the armed wings of liberation movements (uMkhonto we Sizwe and Azanian People's Liberation Army), and the defence forces of the former Bantustans.
