Le Comité permanent Inter-Etats de Lutte contre la Sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS) a été crée le 12 septembre 1973 à la suite des grandes Sécheresse qui ont frappé le Sahel dans les années 70. Le CILSS, née de la clairvoyance des pères fondateurs dans un souci de soldiarité agissante entre les peuples, célèbre cette année le cinquantenaire de sa création.
