Lake Chad Basin Commission

The Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) was established on 22 May 1964 by the four countries bordering Lake Chad: Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad. The mandates of the Commission are: to manage the waters of Lake Chad and the other transboundarywater resources in the Lake Chad basin in a sustainable and equitable way; to conserve the ecosystems of the conventional basin; and to promote regional integration and safeguard peace and security in the conventional basin.
