Université Gaston BERGER de Saint-Louis du Sénégal (UGB)

Gaston Berger University (UGB), located in Saint-Louis, Senegal, is the second-largest public university in the country. Established on January 2, 1990, by Law No. 90-03, it officially opened on December 17, 1990, with 600 students. Originally named the University of Saint-Louis, it was renamed on December 4, 1996, in honor of Gaston Berger, a French-Senegalese philosopher born in Saint-Louis and father of choreographer Maurice Béjart. UGB is a Centre of excellence for Applied Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, providing the theoretical and computational backbone for Senegal's space program. Known for its "Sanar" campus, UGB focuses heavily on the downstream application of space technology. It specializes in Numerical Analysis, Satellite Telecommunications, and Geomatics.
