University of Ghana

The University of Ghana, located in Legon, is the oldest and largest public university in Ghana, founded in 1948 and granted full degree-awarding status in 1961. It operates on a collegiate system comprising four main colleges: Basic and Applied Sciences, Education, Health Sciences, and Humanities, with over 60,000 registered students as of July 2021. It is the premier university in Ghana and was founded as the University College of the Gold Coast by Ordinance on August 11, 1948, for the purpose of providing and promoting university education, learning and research.
