Nigeria
Nigeria's space sector doesn't have a single dominant area yet.
Recorded activity for Nigeria is still early-stage, spread thinly across public-sector presence, commercial activity, and academic capacity. Compared with West African countries captured on Spacehubs Africa tracked on the platform, it ranks 1 of 15 by recorded activity. (2 of 55 continent-wide.)

Overview
Nigeria has the longest-running structured space programme in sub-Saharan Africa. The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), established in 2000 under a National Space Policy, has overseen six satellite launches between 2003 and 2017, including NigeriaSat-1, NigeriaSat-2, NigeriaSat-X, NigComSat-1, NigComSat-1R, and Nigeria EduSat-1. Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) operates the geostationary communications satellite NigComSat-1R. A revised 25-year National Space Roadmap guides current priorities, including domestic satellite manufacturing and a planned launch facility, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Space Centre in Ekpe. A National Space Council, chaired by the President, oversees strategic direction. A National Defence Space Agency coordinates security-related space applications. NASRDA's Centre for Space Transport and Propulsion is conducting propulsion research toward eventual indigenous launch capability.
